Needlework

Needlework is a time-consuming process and we appreciate the work that goes into crafting stitchery such as Cross Stitch and Needlepoints. We offer two different mounting techniques, depicted in the illustrations below; Lacing and Pin Stretching.

Lacing is the preferred method of most needle work enthusiasts. Lacing (Figure 1.) holds the needlework evenly stretched with rows of pearl cotton thread. This method of stretching can be done over an 8-ply cotton rag mat board or archival foam.

An alternative to lacing is the pin stretch. A Pin Stretch (Figure 2) is a simpler option of stretching textile works. The stretching is finished with dressmaker pins that remain in the work once framed and is stretched over archival foam.

Before mounting needlework we may need to Block and Stretch fabric that is out of square. This pre-mounting process gives you a straighter, square, more aligned design within the matting and framing.
